House Plans to Enact Enabling Laws on the Building of Democratic, Prosperous
and Consensual Ethiopia
The House of People’s Representatives is reported to have planned to enact
laws which would help to accomplish part of the five-year development plan that
would assist to realize Ethiopia’s rebirth.
The speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives hon. Ambassador Teshome Toga disclosed this in a statement he gave to journalists on 6th of October marking the opening of the third year tenure of the House on 8th of Oct. 2007.
In the statement, Hon. Ambassador Teshome expressed that the House has planned to enact various laws that would contribute to achieve overall development goals set by the government.
Besides, laws enabling to promote good governance, social and economic justice and Strengthen democratic institutions would be promulgated, the speaker noted.
Moreover, the House has designed plans allowing to work in collaboration with nongovernmental organizations, and to encourage political parties to work freely with their members, the speaker said.
Similarly, the House would carry out the work of over sighting the performances
of the executive Organs, Promoting public participation in the legislative process,
increasing the dissemination of House’s activities to the public and preparing
manual for further implementation of House’s Rules of Procedure, he explained.
