PRESIDENT CALLS UPON THE PUBLIC TO WORK
TOWARDS ETHIOPIA’S RENAISSANCE

President of the Republic called up on all peoples of Ethiopia to work hand in hand to realize the envisioned goals of accelerated development and creating prosperous Ethiopia.

President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, his Excellency Girma W/Georgies revealed this while he delivered a speech opening the joint session of the 3rd year tenure of 3rd Houses of Peoples’ Representatives and the Federation on 8th of October, 2007.

In his speech, president Girma urged all the peoples of Ethiopia to work integrated to achieve vision of creating prosperous Ethiopia and ensure the prevalence of democratic order and good governance.

He also expressed that the House of Peoples’ Representatives is expected to issue legislations that would promote democracy, good governance, accelerated development, and ensure reliable peace.

Besides, the House would also approve revised legislations on fertilizer production and trade, bio safety, animal quarantine and control, and others.

Moreover, his Excellency Girma W/Georgis expressed that the House will amend laws on national bank, insurance, as well as on value added, excise, and turnover taxes.

The speech also covered the activities to be carried out this year by the House of federation and the current situation with regard to Eritrea and Somalia.

The joint session of the two Houses, being the first opening session of the millennium, has brought together, the Premier, Ministers, Government Officials, Diplomats and Religious Leaders.
