It was revealed that the multifaceted support granted by the French bilateral cooperation relation has registered reliable effect on the justice reform programme of Ethiopia.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives hon. W/r Shitaye Minale disclosed this while she delivered an opening speech of the one day training offered to the Legal and Administrative Affairs Standing Committee of the House regarding the performance of criminal justice system on 14 Nov. 2007 in the Premises of the Parliament.
Deputy speaker Hon W/ro Shitaye Minale said that the support granted to Ethiopian justice reform system by the French bilateral cooperation relation registered fruitful results.
Besides, the French bilateral cooperation relation has contributed to the capacity building endeavor, technical support and financial assistance in order to achieve the justice reform programe designed by the government of Ethiopia.
The system of rendering an immediate decision to the alleged criminals seized along with their exhibits by proving whether the criminals are guilt or not is adopted from France, she has learnt. .
Moreover, the French bilateral cooperation relation has given training on the monitoring, issuing of laws, performing and evaluating of the justice sector, she has further stated.
Hon. Deputy Speaker W/ro Shitaye Minale underscored that the trainees would share a lot of experience from the performance, monitoring and evaluation about the Criminal Justice system of developed countries.
Meanwhile, deputy councilor of the France Embassy her Excellency Sofi Moro explained that the French government has shown keen interest to support the reform of criminal justice of Ethiopia.
Besides, she added that the improvement of justice system of the French cooperation project has engaged in the training of judges, prosecutors, support staff and legal drafters.
Moreover, the project is also playing tremendous roles on the improvement of criminal case management system, providing technical assistance for the improvement of criminal procedural law.
It was confirmed that the training will discuss in-depth the core issues of implementation, monitoring and evaluation of criminal justice system and others.
