“MINSTRY IMPLEMENTS THE CIVIL SERVICE REFORM PROGRAMME”

The ministry of foreign affairs is reportedly strived to implement better the sub-programmes of the civil service reform during the first half of this Ethiopian fiscal year.

In a report he presented to the foreign, defence and security affairs standing committee on 31 March, minister of foreign affairs honourable Ato Siyoum Mesfin said that better results have been achieved than the past year as a consequence of integrated implementation of the higher officials, the manpower, the service delivery, the resource administration and ethics reform sub-programmes.

Accordingly, the various departments of the ministry were able to perform certain activities within shorter time than before while considerable improvements have been registered regarding quality of output; it was noted.

According to the report, works of information gathering on import trade, conducting market opportunity studies, and creating opportunity for sales of home products have been done with a view to fulfill duty of economic diplomacy of the ministry.

Besides, various tasks have been done to support the development endeavors by promoting the tourism and investment opportunities of the country.

Efforts were also made in the public and political diplomacy where important results have been observed, it was noted.

Meanwhile, the minister has given responses to the various questions raised by the standing committee.

In its remark regarding the performance, the committee has urged the ministry to work integrated with pertinent executive bodies.
