“Five Trees for the Millennium”

Officials and members of the House of peoples’ Representatives and the House of Federation as well as officials of institutions answerable to the House of peoples’ Representatives have planted seedlings on 4th of July 2007 under the motto of “five tress for the millennium.”
The officials and the parliamentarians planted the seedlings in the presence of the speaker of the House of people’s Representatives hon. Ambassador Teshome Toga, Speaker of the House of Federation Hon. Ato Degife Bula, deputy speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives, hon. W/ro Shitaye Minale and officials of institutions answerable to the House of peoples’ Representatives .
It was noted that each of the officials and the parliamentarians have planted 3 more seedlings on their own initiative than the national motto of planting two seedlings.
Meanwhile, chairperson of the information and culture affairs standing committee hon. Ato Dawit Tefera has made a speech to the gathering in which he indicated that the parliament and institutions answerable to he HPR have setup millennium celebration principal committee which is directed by the speakers of the two Houses so as to celebrate the event colorfully.
Director General of the Ethiopian Millennium national counsel’s secretariat his Excellency Ato Siyoum Bereded has delivered a speech in which he indicated that the initiative taken by the parliamentarians and the officials clearly exhibit their commitment for intensifying the development endeavors.
