Establishment of Labour Union will Respects Rights of employees
The establishment of Labour Union has become necessary to the employees who are working in floriculture, fruit and vegetable industries for the respect of right, and discharging responsibilities, it was learnt.
The Chairperson of Social Affairs Standing Committee of the House of Peoples’ Representatives hon. W/ro Azeb Mesfin remarked this while concluding the visit of floriculture, fruit and vegetable industries produced around Zeway, Bishoftu and Koka on 14th – 15th of January 2008.
Hon. W/ro Azeb said that the establishment of the labour Union would contribute to the creation of peaceful relationship healthy working environment between the employers and employees and enable the workers to know their duties and set respect of their rights.
Moreover, safety Precautions which help to protect the healthiness of the worker from the diseases caused spray of chemicals on to the flowers made by the development organizations should keep it up strengthened.
Besides, some development organizations have built hospitals and schools to provide education and health service to the societies residing around the industrial areas to which other organizations will follow as an exemplary.
Meanwhile, some workers said that due to lack of the contractual agreements between the employer and employee, the workers. Lack job security when there is disagreements happen between the party’s employees and employers.
Meantime, president of floriculture, fruit and vegetable producer and exporter association of Ethiopia, Ato Tsegaye Abebe explained that the enhancement of production and productivity boosting the economy and safeguarding health and wellbeing of citizens are not optional, but mandatory.
Besides, the establishment of the labor Union would be exercised to met organizational
and industrial objectives and realizes production and productivity.
