Untitled Document Ethiopia Shares an Enlightened Experience from Cuba

It was revealed that the achievement of Cuba in all aspects of development would enable Ethiopia to share experience for its development endeavor.

The speaker of the House of peoples’ Representatives hon. Ambassador Teshome Toga has expressed this when he received and talked with the Cuban delegation led by vice president his Excellency Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernadez on 18th of Dec. 2007.

The speaker communicated that Ethiopia will learn experiences from the multifaceted development activities and social, economic and political sectors of Cuba.

Besides, Ethiopia will share from Cuba regarding the modern methods of teaching, teaching materials, class room size on primary, secondary and tertiary level of education.

As far as public health is concerned Ethiopia would share experience from Cuba about the creation of medical technology to increase the quality of health is Cuban, he said.

The speaker elaborated that the ratification of bilateral treaties, the creation of joint ministerial conference framework between the two countries, the establishment of parliamentary friendship maintaining the long standing relations cemented in blood between the two nations signify the strengthening of their friendly relations.

Furthermore, he explained the government is exerting efforts on development education and health sectors in order to tackle the challenges of poverty that affect the social, economic and political livelihood of people.

The speaker added that the government has focused on increasing income of peasants, creating international market access for peasants and urban development so as to avoid unemployment and shortage of housing in towns and cities.

Ethiopia has been cooperating with Cuban delegations at Inter Parliamentary Union as well as African Caribbean pacific - European Union joint parliamentary assembly level, the speaker remarked.

Besides, he Ethiopian parliament and the government have committed to keep up the harmonious solidarity and friendship existing between Ethiopia and Cuba.

Meanwhile, vice president his Excellency Mr. Estaban Lazo Hernadez on his part said that Cuba has carried out reliable efforts on education and public health services and launched comprehensive programe of saving energy, investment undertaken in established medical schools and universities.

Furthermore, his Excellency added that Cuba has taken measures to avoid social and economic difficulties led by the programmes of “yes I can.”

It was recalled that the memorial monument of Cuban heroes who had sacrificed their lives during the war between Ethiopia and Somalia in 1977 has been inaugurated.
