African Parliamentarians Visit Floriculture Farms

Honorable speakers, Deputy Speakers and Parliamentarians from over 35 African countries paid a visit to some of mushrooming large scale cultivation of flower farms on 28th of November 2007.

The parliamentarians, who arrived in Addis to participate in the 30th APU conference, have visited the cultivation of flower and related farmhouses established near Debrezeit-town situated about 60 kilometers from the Capital.

During the visit, Deputy speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the FDRE, hon. W/ro Shitaye Minale said, the mushrooming of the floriculture is an indication of Ethiopia’s rapid track of development, and added that the visit would enable the parliamentarians perceive the experience and the real development situation in the country.

Moreover, The deputy speaker who underscored the development commitment to encourage investments in to the sector, pinpointed that the visit contributes much in dotting visitors reflect the conducive investment atmosphere in Ethiopia upon their return to home thereby assist the effort of image building action progress in the very moment of celebrating the new millennium.

Meanwhile, a Parliamentarian from Sengal, hon. Bamba Nadia expressed satisfaction over the visit and desire to propose to concerned bodies in his country the importation of flower from African countries under the motto of “Africa for Africans”

Earlier, Chairperson of Floriculture Industry Association Ato Tsegaye Abebe who had given explanations to visitors on the prospects of the sector, witnessed the rapid boost has been basically delivered from the appropriate investment policy of the incumbent government.
