Honorable Ambassador Teshome Toga, Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives unearthed the need to form a parliamentary body that follows up the equitable utilization of the Nile water.
The Speaker disclosed this when he conferred with parliamentarians of the Sudan and Egypt on 8th August 2007 in the premises of the parliament.
Meantime, honorable Speaker said that institutional parliamentary bodies that follow up the status of the utilization of the Nile Water among member countries of the Nile Basin Initiative is quite instrumental.
Honorable speaker who expressed that Ethiopia has been working towards fair utilization among riparian countries and would continue to intensify its position also briefed the guests on the performances of the 3rd House and the participation of women in development endeavors.
On the other hand, heads of the Parliamentary delegations of the Sudan and
Egypt on their part have expressed that their position on the utilization of
the Nile water agrees with that of Ethiopia.
