The House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR), the House of Federation (HF)
and the Institutions accountable to the HPRs have concluded the first part of
their Programme designed to jointly celebrate the 3rd Ethiopian Millennium.
The first part of the Programme came to an end at the time when employees of
the Secretariats of the two Houses and that of the institutions reporting to
the HPR, namely the Human Rights Commission, the Institution of Ombudsman, the
National Board of Election and the Office of Federal General Auditor participated
in planting indigenous seedlings at the Millennium Park on 27th of July 2007.
It is to be recalled that the occasion of planting seedlings was conducted earlier by executive bodies and members of the two Houses and heads of the noted institutions on 4th of June before the Parliament has been closed for recess.
The officials of the two Houses, MPs, and heads and employees of the four institutions altogether planted over 4,000 seedlings, it was noted.
During the concluding occasion of planting seedlings, Ato Mubarek Sani, representing the Secretariat of the HPRs, indicated in his keynote address that planting trees by the employees is a heightened opportunity for every one as entering in to a new millennium is a phenomenon prevailing once in every 1000 years.
