Committee Evaluates Performance Report

The Legal and Administrative Affairs Standing Committee of the House expressed that preparation of the plan and time of implementation should be specified so that the House would enable to oversight and assist the Institution.

The deputy chairperson of the Legal and Administrative Affairs Standing Committee of the House Hon.W/ro Fantaye Gezahgn has stated this on 8th of February 2008 when the committee evaluated the first two quarters of this Ethiopian fiscal year performance report of Justice And Legal System Research Institute.

Hon. W/ro Fantaye said that the institution should prepare the plan and the performance contemplated the time of implementation and types of activities to be realized in this first two quarters of fiscal year for the sake of clarifying the committee so as oversight the performance report of the institution.

Besides, she stated that in order to evaluate and follow-up implementation of the budget the plan and the performance should demonstrate the timely realization of the budget.

Moreover, for the purpose of reforming the justice system of the country, the institution should incorporate issues of HIV/AIDS presentation, environmental protection, gender and women participation, she underscored.

Furthermore, so as to bolster the justice system the institution should implement the civil service reform program and work jointly with other stakeholders, she noted.

Meanwhile, the director of the Justice and Legal System Research Institution Ato Adamseged Belay stated that due to the fact that there is a need to reforming the justice system and establishing the uniform legal education allover the country, the institution has designed curriculum and syllabus, and has prepared teaching materials and legislative guidelines in a comprehensive manner.

Besides, the institution has trained federal judges, prosecutors and professionals of the justice system stakeholders, Ato Adamseged said.

It was noted that the prevailing capacity building endeavor to bolster the justice system by the institution should continue strengthened.
