House endorse, refers bills and approves appointment of Judges
The House of people’s Representatives in its 15th regular session, after it had conducted a thorough discussion, has adopted two bills, directs other two bills to the relevant committees for further scrutiny and approves the appointment of the nominated Federal Supreme Court Judges on 31 January 2008.
The House has adopted the proclamation to ratify the establishment African Free Zone from Nuclear weapon with the majority votes cast after the decision proposal presented by the representative of the Capacity Building Affairs, the Legal and Administrative Affairs and the Foreign, Defience and Security Affairs Standing Committees of the House.
According to the decision proposal the establishment of Free Zone from nuclear weapon of Africa is the mechanism to limit intensification of nuclear weapon and protect the acquisition endeavor to be owner of nuclear weapons.
Besides, the International community has uphold nuclear weapon to be consumed for peaceful source of energy.
Meanwhile, the House has adopted a proclamation to amend the International communication of the Harmonized commodity Description and coding system in its first reading with the majority votes.
According to the decision proposal, the amendment of the bill is necessary to intensify and develop the market, balance the demand and supply in the market, execute activities in a speedy and free manner, protect companies, individuals, and the public from market discrimination and unfair trade and create market access that would enable participants competing freely.
In the days’s session, the House has directed the proclamation to ratify Ethio-Spain basic Agreement of cooperation to Foreign, Defiance, and Security Affairs Standing committee of the House for further scrutiny.
Meanwhile, the House has approved appointed the nominated judges for Federal Courts with the majority votes of 258 for, 20 against and 30 abstentions.
The House has approved the appointment of the nominated judges of after it had assured their loyality to the constitution, qualification experience and competence hardworking, exemplariness of ethical behavior, and their age from their biography submitted to the House.
Besides, the appointed judges of Federal Supreme Court, Ato
Medhin G/Kiross, Ato Alemu Wole, Ato Tsegaye Asmamaw, Ato Belachew Anshiso and
Ato Kedir Ali took an oath appeared infront of the House.
