Every body said Responsible to protect the Environment From Pollution

The Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Affairs Standing Committee has expressed that even though the ongoing industrial development undertaken in the country is effected remarkable result, every body should be responsible to protect Environmental pollution due to emission of Co2 caused by industries and waste materials.

The member and representative of the Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Affairs Standing Committee of the House Hon. Ato Alebachew Lakew has remarked this when the committee paid working visit to the Ethio-Leather Industry and the Aba Samuel Dam on 30 Jan 2008.

Hon. Ato Albachew said that although the intensification of industry in the country is commendable, precautionary measures should be taken to protect the environment from the pollution of residuals of solid and liquid wastes.

Besides, he stated that environmental pollution getting is aggravated from time to time at the international level.

Furthermore, the environmental pollution caused due to unprotected act by many industrial sectors should be carefully followed up and over sighted nationwide, he urged.

Moreover, the Environment Protection Authority that performed remarkable result on environmental protection should keep its results up strengthened and shoulder responsibility of monitoring industrial sectors not to pollute the environment and adjust the forum that industries would enable to share experience of Ethio-Leather Industry’s measures is the protection of environmental pollution.

Meanwhile, general director of Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority Dr. Teweldebirhan G/Egziabher on his part said that everybody should shoulder responsibility to protect the environment from pollution caused by human activity.

Furthermore, General directors emphasized that the authority has involved what to consolidate conservation of the environment in general and carrying out the preventive mechanism that the residuals of the industries would not drained towards Aba Samual Dam in particular.

Besides, the Authority has endorse facilitated mechanisms to endorse many environmental protection proclamation and regulations by the concerned bodies, he said.

He also added that, the authority has protected pollutions caused by industrial residuals, genetic engineering and others by establishing committees from stakeholders.
